NASA sues ex-astronaut Edgar Mitchell seeking return of camera that went to moon on Apollo 14

LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Former astronaut, Edgar Mitchell, is being sued by NASA. The dispute is over a camera that Mitchell has from one of the Apollo space missions, something he brought back from orbit. Now NASA wants it back.

Edgar Mitchell’s Lake Worth home is filled with photos of his days as an astronaut. He flew on the flight of Apollo 14, and during that mission in 1971, Edgar Mitchell walked on the moon. Now NASA has filed a lawsuit against him in federal court.

“It’s silly, it’s nonsense. It’s absolutely…nothing I can do about it. So I’ll battle it,” said Edgar.

The lawsuit involves a black and white camera that Mitchell brought back from the Apollo 14 space mission. The camera was in the lunar module that landed on the moon in 1971. Now Mitchell wants to sell the camera, which could bring $80,000 at an auction.  More…
