Boeing wins $1.7 billion contract for NextGen

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Boeing Co. said Thursday it won a U.S. research and development support contract worth up to $1.7 billion over five years for upgrading the nation’s air-traffic control system. the Chicago aerospace giant said its Prime focus would be on modeling and simulation for the NextGen Air Transportation System, as well as developing full integration of ground and airborne technologies and operations across all vehicle types, including commercial and military aircraft, general aviation, unmanned aerial systems, and rotorcraft. The contract was awarded through the Federal Aviation Administration.
