The ZLW has a longstanding tradition. It was founded in 1929, in the pioneering time of aviation. Today it is an example for an international publication in a very specialized field of law. Compared with publications in other fields the number of copies produced appears small, but in fact the ZLW is one of the big journals in its own field.
It is the  only publication of this kind in all Germany and one of about half a dozen worldwide.It is edited in three languages in a quarterly rhythm  by the Institute of Air and Space Law at the University of Cologne. The ZLW publishes contributions on German an  international air traffic law, in international space law as well as legislation, conference reports, judicial decisions on book reviews in these fieldsmore
